Tired of the gay boys wearing man-pris and toting their Prada bags around the streets of Boystown? Well, Buck's may be the place for you. Located on the corner of Newport and Halsted, this little bar entertains the less-pretentious clientele of Boystown.
Enter the scene, a long wooden bar with a friendly bartender and scattered gay men hovering waiting for drinks. On the far end, a pool table and dart board tickle the fancies of the more bar-sports inclined. (Although, the location of the dart board is a bit tragic. One must walk in the line of fire to get to the back patio)
Outside, a small make-shift bar sits at the south end of the patio. Here, closeted sports fans huddle watching the latest game while sipping (or downing) longnecks and cocktails. I'm not sure how they have been able to pull this one off with the smoking ban, but for all you nicotine addicts, char those lungs out on Buck's patio.
Avoid the "prime" seating on the deck area. Unfortunately, one section of it spoons the dumpsters.
